Previously unreleased! A precious DVD converted from original video tapes. Their first performance in Japan had been recorded on these tapes on August 19th 1963 at TBS studio in Tokyo for television. The New Orleans Rascals made tour to play at Oslo Jazz Festival (Norway) and Göteborgs Tradjazz Festival (Sweden) in August l994. This is the CD recorded at Stadsteatern, a beautiful theater, Göteborgs Tradjazz Festival on August 12, 1994. The Festival was held for 5 days, from August 12 to l4, and the band enjoyed to play 5 times in the program with good audience. (R.Kawai)

In August 14, 1994 the New Orleans Rascals made a tour of Scandinavia including appearances at the Oslo Jazz Festival (NorWay) and Göteborgs Tradjazz Festival (Sweden). This CD was recorded at the New Orleans Dance Hall during the Göteborg Festival. Many in audience enjoyed dancing to the Rascals New Orleans style of music. (R.Kawai)

Ryoichi Kawai first met and played with John Richardson when both were members of my "International New Orleans Band." in Rapperswil, Switzerland in 2009. Ryoichi was immediately impressed with John's intensely personal approach to New Orleans style piano playing and resolved to bring John to Japan and introduce him to a Japanese audience. (Geoff Bull)

One day, while George Lewis's band was touring around Japan in 1963, the Rascals showed their performances in front of the New Orleans legends at their practice hall.
